Beaches in Costa Rica
Since time immemorial we know that Costa Rica has the name not abound in gold, or hidden mineral wealth, but because such is the beauty of its shores and coastlines, that it should be considered the greatest treasure of the country.
The advantage of Costa Rica is that the distances between the capital San José, the main beaches and coastal strands, do not mean serious trouble or require expensive travel, which joins the tourist really amazing that a person who pace car trip of 80 miles per hour, you can perfectly well be consumed in the Atlantic Ocean at 8 am, take a trip at 10, and be diving in the waters of the Pacific at 5 pm, still plenty of sun to tan a little longer.
This truth automobile roads carried the air, makes the same distance from Puerto Limón on the Atlantic and Pacific Puntarenas, is covered in only one hour and fifteen minute flight by air express.
This is explained, how is that some tourists are surprised at the highest mountain peaks in the country, the view of both oceans at once.
Geographically, the country’s coastal development, from Punta Castilla in Boca del Rio San Juan (on the northern border) to the Boca del Rio Sixaola (southern border) in the Atlantic gives a length of 212 kilometers and kilometers of 1,016 the Pacific, from Milestones (northern border) to the named milestone Burica (southern border).
In these 1228 kilometers of coastline hide some of the most magnificent coral formations and Central America polypary coupled with the presence always dominant in the neighboring forest.
The landscape begins north of the country on the Pacific side, with semicircular vision Salinas Bay, at the bottom of which open wide, sandy beaches are located pearl gray and some of the most famous sites of fishing.
From that extreme, can be located on this coast whose beaches around 100 variations of shape, color, type of sand, water temperature and landscape make them the best in Central America.
It should be noted, that really is the Pacific side of Costa Rica offers the largest
number of beaches for foreign tourists, with hotels and infrastructure in some cases, without being stuck exactly to the coast and in other parts of the world is close enough to be able to travel in a few minutes, from a comfortable, to extensive year-round sunny beaches, bordering mangroves and rivers of immeasurable beauty, some of which are sanctuaries of flora and tropical fauna of the country.
One such place is called Cuajiniquil incredible at the bottom of the bay where the waves hardly noticeable and more like the surface waters of a pond blue sea.
Cuajiniquil has the distinction of opening its long beach of white sand and gentle slope in a sandy point behind which runs a river, there are two streams and creeks that there are several contours give the appearance of an island.
The fishermen who live in the area, specialize in supplying travelers with refined culinary tastes with delicious sea food like squid, fish cooked on the grill, delicious cocktails snail meat and clam cambute queen and mixtures based on barnacles, oysters and pianguas.
In some other neighboring beaches such as Nancite Cuajiniquil and Naranjo, the southern end of Santa Rosa National Park, nature has mounted during the months of April, May, June, July and August, some incredible performances that reflect the periodicity indestructible life cycle in certain animal species.
In Nancite, for example, there are months of the year when the beach is covered turtles literally, without leaving a single space of them is a fantastic vision of wings, legs and shells of different colors that move like a strange ballet .
This same zoological vision, & úacute; nica in the world, occurs on the beaches of Tortuguero on the Caribbean, for August, September and October comes to spawn the famous green turtle (Chelonia mydas), which summarizes the more dynamic picture ofturtles that inhabit the recesses of the Caribbean Sea.
The unusual gathering of turtles on these beaches Costa Rica has attracted the attention of famous scientists such as Dr. Archie Carr, University of Gainesville, Florida, who have written entire books on the phenomenon and the native beauty of the beaches.
He has also served as inspiration for the film documentary film made by the Geographical Society of the United States, The World Wildlife Fund and the scientific society of Jacques Cousteau, whose son, Phillipe, now defunct, made several voyages of discovery aboard his famous plane “Calypso” and the oceanographic ship “Calypso” to Tortuguero.
There are places in the country where you do not really know if the beach overlooking the forest or the jungle to the beach. This is the case of Manuel Antonio, Pacific waters near Puerto Quepos on the Pacific coastal strip called South.
Here you literally pick up the forest on the sandy beach and the tourist is surprised to find, running on low bushes and sand, gigantic herds of Titi Monkey, one of the most attractive animals in the family of the same, which orange and yellow glowing eyes, make him sought after as a pet.
When reading any story about Quepos, Manuel Antonio, and elsewhere Espadilla neighbors, it becomes certain that his magnetism is so strong, that could not escape the author known for their scientific parsimony as Dr. Hans Webber and Dr . Christopher Menton, whose reports on some points, they fall into an almost transparent poetry, traveling only by those latitudes can one comprehend and understand his birth.
This same sense of loneliness, strong communication with nature, virginity and purity, takes the traveler visiting south of Cahuita Limon on the Atlantic coast.
Cahuita, also has the distinction of being the most southern extension characteristic of coral reefs that stretch along the Caribbean coast of Central America.
The funds of the reef in this part, for those who love diving, are ideal, clear waters provide a tight field of view polyps, kelp forests and incredibly colorful schools of fish of all shapes and all known species in the Caribbean waters.
As here overlooking the reef, being typical box sunken galleons in the seventeenth century in its depths, Amazon dominates the green thickness of the Atlantic forest in coastal contours of Parismina, Matina, Pacuare and Tortuguero on the northern Caribbean.
The beaches of this portion of forested lands are reached through travel out of Puerto Limon, on cruise ships tend to use the route of canals, lakes, rivers and streams, which over 112 kilometers to connect inwardly Lemon ( Costa Rica’s main Atlantic port) with distant Barra del Colorado, in the northeast.
Returning to the Pacific, there are three more or less strict differences that make the Costa Ricans in the classification of the beaches: the North Pacific, Central Pacific and the South Pacific.
The most renowned beaches in the North Pacific are: El Coco, Bahia Culebra, Playa Panama, Playa Hermosa, Conchal, Brasilito, Tamarindo, Junquillal, Nosara, Samara and Mal Pais.
In all of Conchal is the largest denoting the difference in composition, because the contour, instead of being covered with fine sand, is covered with shells, molluscs and snails in an exorbitant amount.
This is what indicates why a tourist in Costa Rica, if you take the direction of the coast for your holiday, never gets tired. The truth of surprise changes in the beaches, is a truth easily comparable.
Well it’s also talk that was the point to which he moved, by long tradition, as many foreign and domestic tourism and still retains its great tourist attraction: Puntarenas.
Old Pacific’s most important port, is both real springboard from which you can achieve the most pleasant excursions to remote beaches inside the vast Gulf of Nicoya.
Puntarenas is a city entirely devoted to tourism and fishing. The largest coastal tourist infrastructure of the country is located in extent, geographically and from the air, looks like an extended finger deeper waters of the sea and the surrounding estuary in the north.

Those who go beyond the traditional near, the country offers unique opportunities to find your desired landscape Carate dimension, Drake, Zancudo and Pavones, which are part of the most attractive of the South Pacific.
All these coastal lands of the South Pacific are well known because the rivers that flow into them, and some neighboring forest landforms that limit, abundant alluvial gold.
For hundreds of years, prospectors have walked every inch of these places, in search of the coveted “nuggets”, and there are legends here, sometimes fantastic, good luck on some of them.
Around the 60′s (1960) called Isla Violin, which actually is not such a continental island, but a portion surrounded by a few streams and the Rio Sierpe, a searcher found a golden rock solid 24 pounds.
With all these alternatives, with all these incentives, with so many adventures much likely, peace, beauty and pleasure, the beaches of Costa Rica are a permanent invitation to tourists from all over the world who want to leave behind concrete, skyscrapers, masshuman, and travel in search of a little solitude.
