Panamanian Nation newspaper group sold

Nation Group sold two Panamanian businessmen its shareholding in the financial weekly Capital, which circulates in the southern neighbor.

The transaction, which closed on Jan. 27, was confirmed by George Robert, Nation Group’s corporate spokesman. He did not detail the amount of the transaction.

New hands. The new owners of the weekly Panamanian are Octavio del Moral and Jose Barrios. The first works as a lawyer and the second is the Deputy Administrator of the Panama Canal Authority (ACP).

Asked about the acquisition of Del Moral announced that the weekly will not change its editorial line.

“It will remain an independent and specialized in economics and finance, as it has done so far,” he said by telephone from Panama City.
